Several dead in Dutch coach crash in Switzerland

GENEVA - A coach carrying Dutch tourists was involved in a fatal crash in eastern Switzerland on Thursday, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries, according to police reports. The accident occurred around 4:45pm (1445 GMT) between the towns of Susch and Zernez in Graubunden canton. The coach, operated by tour company Oad, carried 48 passengers, all from the Netherlands, and collided with a safety barrier before overturning and falling down an embankment.

Local police spokespersons stated that details on the casualties and victims' identities would not be released until their families were informed. The Oad company expressed deep shock and devastation over the tragic accident, offering their condolences to all those affected. Swiss President Guy Parmelin also extended his condolences, describing the crash as a "tragic accident."

Zernez serves as the entry point for visitors to the Swiss national park, a sprawling Alpine reserve covering over 100 square kilometers in the Engadine valley.
