Shettima: NELFUND Has Provided Crucial Financial Relief To Indigent Students

Nigeria's Vice-President Kashim Shettima remarked on Wednesday that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), established by President Bola Tinubu's administration, has been a landmark initiative providing vital financial assistance to impoverished students. Shettima stated that the scheme ensures tuition fees are covered and provides monthly upkeep allowances to students from less-privileged backgrounds.

He emphasized that NELFUND has eliminated financial barriers to higher education, enabling these students to pursue their academic goals. Shettima recalled his own struggles as a student when food prices at the cafeteria rose, highlighting that NELFUND has given poor children a much-needed reprieve. The Vice-President also noted that Nigeria is now on a trajectory of sustainable economic development under the Tinubu administration, citing the country's improved sovereign credit ratings, increased oil production, higher foreign exchange reserves, and macroeconomic reforms as key contributors to this progress.
