Shettima: NELFUND Has Provided Crucial Financial Relief To Indigent Students

Vice-President Kashim Shettima praised the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), established by President Bola Tinubu's administration, as a crucial program providing financial support to underprivileged students. During a meeting with the University of Abuja's management team, Shettima highlighted the Fund's role in removing financial barriers to higher education and leveling the playing field in Nigeria's education sector.

Addressing the challenges students faced during his time at the University of Maiduguri, Shettima emphasized that NELFUND ensures that poverty is no longer an excuse for not pursuing higher education. The scheme covers tuition fees and provides monthly upkeep allowances, making it possible for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend and stay in school.

Expressing gratitude to Shettima and the Federal Government, University of Abuja Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi praised the renewal Hope administration's commitment to education development. He commended Shettima's leadership qualities, noting that his guidance has helped navigate the challenges faced by the school. Fawehinmi also extended appreciation to the university's partners for their efforts in stabilizing the institution's recent history.
