Samsung reacts to Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo; ‘reheating our leftovers’

Samsung appears to be divided in its reaction to Apple's first foldable device, the iPhone Duo. Some of the reactions include calling the device "a Sims sequel" and "reheating our leftovers." Apple's first foldable shares a form factor similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8. Samsung's foldable has been well received since its debut in July, though some argue that the new shape was a reaction to Apple's upcoming arrival.

Samsung's public reaction has been quite interesting. While Samsung was welcoming to Apple ahead of the launch, the Twitter/X feed tells a different story. Samsung mocked the iPhone Duo, calling it a "Sim sequel" and "So far, so same," suggesting that much of what the Duo can do has been seen on existing Android foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Samsung also took issue with the idea of using the Duo as a clock, but still called it "reheating our leftovers." This stance contrasts with the dramatic 180-degree turn in Samsung's design compared to their long history of book-style foldables. The company even brought Duolingo into the conversation for some playful banter. Duolingo's response was to call Samsung an "ugly stranger," referencing a viral meme. Apple's iPhone Duo is set to launch in October for $1,999.
