Champions League: Why Arsenal will not win trophy – Merson

Former England footballer Paul Merson has expressed his belief that Arsenal will not secure the UEFA Champions League title this season. According to Merson, the team failed to bring in a player with the "X factor" during the summer transfer window. Arsenal had been heavily speculated to sign either Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior or Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, but ultimately, neither player was acquired.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Merson commented, "Arsenal’s record last year was amazing in the Champions League and they’re going to be there or thereabouts again – but I don’t think they bought that X factor signing to take them to that next level." He further added, "They have enough to win the Premier League with their squad.

I just think the forward line against the big boys, they’re missing that little ingredient. 'If they’d had a Vinicius Junior or a Julian Alvarez, that would have given them the edge to go on and win the Champions League. 'I think they might just fall short."
