Apple Unveils IPhone Duo—Foldable IPhone For $1,999

Apple has revealed its inaugural foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, marking a substantial redesign of its flagship smartphone, according to reports from CNN and The Independent. The device was showcased during Apple's product event on Wednesday, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, upgraded AirPods, and new Apple Watch models.

The iPhone Duo features a foldable design, a 7.6-inch display when unfolded, and is described as the company's thinnest iPhone to date. When folded, the screen measures approximately the size of a passport, with controls moved to the right side of the display for easier access. During the event, Apple's new Chief Executive Officer, John Ternus, criticized existing foldable phones, stating they felt "awkwardly stuck together."

The launch of the iPhone Duo signifies Ternus' first Apple product presentation as CEO following his recent ascension from Tim Cook. The device is anticipated to be priced above $2,000, described as a complete redesign of Apple's most recognized product. Apple also presented the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, with the Pro model launching at $1,199 and the Pro Max at $1,299, higher than their 2023 counterparts.

The Pro model introduces a variable-aperture camera for adjustable light entry and enhanced thermal management, while the iPhone Duo includes the Apple Upgrade program for monthly payments and easy upgrades. The company unveiled the AirPods 5 with improved sound quality and noise cancellation, along with Siri AI enhancements like live translation.

The Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 received health and AI upgrades, featuring a "Readiness" score and an Audio Intelligence tool for sound identification. Ternus' debut as CEO included unveiling these new products and sharing his vision for Apple's future.
