iPhone Duo Battery Life Depends on Which Screen You Use

The iPhone Duo features Apple's innovative dual battery system, with one battery located on each side of the device. Apple meticulously optimized physical space to ensure maximum battery capacity for as long a usage time as possible. When the larger 7.6-inch inner display is in use, the battery can last up to 31 hours of video playback.

Conversely, using only the 5.4-inch outer display allows for a battery life of up to 44 hours when watching video. For Apple's typical usage scenario, which involves equal usage of both screens, the battery sustains up to 24 hours of activity. This typical usage encompasses a diverse range of tasks including messaging, photo capture, music listening, social app engagement, video streaming, gaming, web browsing, and navigation.

Apple bases this typical usage metric on median usage patterns among iPhone users. The iPhone Duo's typical usage metric aligns with that of the iPhone 18 Pro. The larger 7.6-inch display consumes more power than the 18 Pro model during video playback, whereas the smaller display demonstrates superior battery longevity. The iPhone 18 Pro Max boasts the longest battery life among the three iPhones, reaching up to 45 hours.

The iPhone Duo can charge to 50% capacity in approximately 20 minutes using a 60W or higher USB-C power adapter. It supports MagSafe and can wirelessly charge at up to 25W via MagSafe or Qi2. Notably, the two batteries within the iPhone Duo are managed collectively as a single battery by iOS. Apple attributes the enhanced battery life to the two-battery design, the eSIM-only setup, the C2 modem's efficiency, and the new A20 Pro chip.

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo are set to commence on October 16, with a formal launch scheduled for October 23.
