Apple iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max launched: Price, specs and India availability

On Wednesday, September 9, Apple unveiled its latest iPhone 18 Pro models. The new devices boast notable advancements in camera capabilities, performance, battery life, and artificial intelligence. Powered by Apple's cutting-edge A20 Pro chip and running on iOS 27, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at Rs 1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is priced at Rs 1,79,900.

The models are available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage capacities, and come in four new color options - black, silver, glacier, and burgundy. Pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in India will commence on September 12, with the devices hitting stores on September 18.

The most prominent upgrade to the new line of iPhones is the camera system. Apple has introduced a 48MP Fusion main camera with variable aperture, marking the first time an iPhone features aperture control. The camera automatically adapts the aperture based on lighting conditions and depth-of-field requirements, while users can manually control it through the camera app.

The sensor, computational photography pipeline, and aperture adjustments collectively result in enhanced low-light photography, sharper details, and improved image quality.

The video features have also been expanded, with the option to apply Cinematic effects after recording at up to 60fps. Users can now capture time-lapse videos in 4K and Dolby Vision HDR, as well as benefit from improved audio quality and voice isolation. The new A20 Pro chip, built using a 2-nanometre process, boasts 50% more memory bandwidth than its predecessor, the A19 Pro.

It also includes a six-core CPU with integrated Neural Accelerators and a seven-core GPU capable of delivering up to 40% faster graphics performance. Additionally, the A20 Pro features a new dual 16-core Neural Engine designed to accelerate on-device AI and computational photography, all while being paired with a redesigned vapour chamber to enhance sustained performance.
