Police recover gun, hunt armed robbers in Delta

The Delta State Police Command recovered a locally made gun abandoned by two suspected armed robbers who invaded a residence in Effurun. A suspected drug peddler was also arrested in a separate operation in Agbor. The police public relations officer disclosed these incidents in a statement. Around 5:30am on September 4, 2026, two masked men, armed with a shotgun, broke into a 48-year-old man's residence in Effurun.

The victim confronted one of the suspects and wrestled with him, leading to the gun breaking. The second suspect struck the victim before they both fled, leaving the firearm behind. Upon receiving a report at the Ekpan Division around 6:14am, police operatives were deployed to the scene. They recovered the damaged gun and referred the victim to a hospital for treatment.

The police launched a manhunt for the suspects, who remain at large. CP Samuel E. Erale of the Delta State Command commended the victim for his bravery and assured him that the suspects will be apprehended. In Agbor, the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested a 40-year-old suspected drug peddler, Joy Anthony, following credible intelligence.

A search at her residence recovered various drugs, and she and the seized items are currently in police custody. The police request the public to share any information they have about the fleeing robbery suspects.
