Police recover gun, hunt armed robbers in Delta

Two suspected armed robbers abandoned a locally-made gun during a break-in at a home in Effurun, Delta State. The Delta State Police Command recovered the damaged firearm following a tip-off on September 4, 2026. The incident occurred around 5:30am when two masked men entered the residence of a 48-year-old man and were confronted by the victim, who wrestled with one of the suspects.

The suspect struck the victim on the forehead before both fled, leaving the gun behind. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, while police launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Agbor, the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested a 40-year-old suspected drug peddler named Joy Anthony. The arrest came after credible intelligence on September 6, 2026, around 5am. Police recovered various drugs and seized the suspect and the illegal substances in a search warrant execution at her residence. The public is urged to provide any information on the fleeing robbery suspects to the nearest police station or the command's control room.
