President Sheikh Mohamed to begin state visit to Germany on Wednesday

President Sheikh Mohamed is set to commence a state visit to Germany on Wednesday, with the primary objective of bolstering the enduring relationship between the two nations. During this high-level visit, Sheikh Mohamed will engage in discussions with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation, particularly in economic and development sectors.

The talks will be conducted under the umbrella of the strategic partnership established between the UAE and Germany, as reported by the state news agency Wam.

The UAE and Germany have a long-standing and robust diplomatic relationship that has flourished for over half a century. The UAE has emerged as a vital partner for Germany in the Gulf region, with bilateral trade between the two countries surpassing $15.5 billion in 2025. A significant number of German businesses, including industrial giants such as BMW, Siemens, ThyssenKrupp, and the railway company Deutsche Bahn, have established operations in the UAE. Deutsche Bahn played a crucial role in the establishment of Etihad Rail’s first freight services.

Sheikh Mohamed's state visit aims to further cement the solid friendship between the UAE and Germany. In February, the UAE leader hosted Chancellor Merz in Abu Dhabi, where a series of significant agreements were signed to expand energy ties. Sheikh Mohamed emphasized during those talks the focus on exploring opportunities for "enhanced collaboration".

Chancellor Merz also paid a visit to Adnoc’s headquarters during his official trip to the UAE, highlighting the deepening strategic energy partnership between the two nations.
