I don’t believe in any polls; they are just speculation – Paul Afoko

Aspiring National Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has dismissed a recent Global InfoAnalytics survey suggesting former General Secretary John Boadu leads in the race, stating that polls are simply speculation and that delegate votes will determine the winner. Afoko maintained his focus on the October 3 election and cited his campaign's reception among delegates as a more reliable indicator of his prospects.

He questioned the accuracy of polls that rely on respondents' honesty about their voting intentions, emphasizing he cannot enter a person's mind to ascertain their truthfulness. The chairmanship contest is a crucial part of his campaign, but his appearance in Kumasi highlighted a broader goal: rebuilding the NPP after its electoral setbacks.

The thanksgiving service for newly elected Ashanti Regional Executives, which Afoko attended, allowed him to underscore the Ashanti Region's central role in the party's fortunes. He expressed confidence in the party's ability to recover the seven parliamentary seats lost in the region during the 2024 elections, calling the Ashanti Region the "heartbeat" of the NPP.

Unity was identified as the key ingredient for the party's return to power, and Afoko encouraged party members to reconnect with the unity associated with the United Party tradition. The NPP currently holds 40 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region, and Afoko believes renewed focus on constituencies where the party suffered losses could strengthen its position.
