Five dead after Amazon cargo plane crashes at Miami airport

An Amazon Air cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Labor Day weekend, killing five people and injuring five more. The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft overshot the runway while attempting to land, hitting several vehicles on the ground. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava stated that at least five people had lost their lives, with five others injured, five of whom were in critical condition.

The crash occurred just before 14:00 local time (19:00 GMT) after the plane departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered all flights to be grounded as fire crews responded to the smoldering crash site. Rescue crews arrived at the scene within seconds of the incident.

Amazon expressed its condolences to the victims and offered its deepest sympathies to the families of those affected. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
