Sunway Lagoon coaster probe may take up to 4 months, say cops

Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar has stated that the investigation into the August 22 roller coaster incident at Sunway Lagoon, which injured 10 visitors, may take up to four months to complete. The incident involved 22 local and foreign visitors aged between 11 and 44. Police are collaborating with the occupational safety and health department, fire and rescue department, and forensic teams to gather technical reports and complete their findings.

They have taken statements from ride staff, victims, and medical officers. A preliminary investigation revealed that the coaster operated normally before experiencing a "sliding failure" about 200 meters from the disembarkation point, triggering the ride's automatic emergency braking system. All visitors who received treatment and observation at hospitals had been discharged as of September 2, and the coaster remains closed pending the investigation's conclusion.
