‘Not about taking credit’: Bittu Tabahi rejects Dhruv Rathee’s PR accusation

Madhya Pradesh resident Bittu Tabahi, known for cleaning the heavily polluted Ajnar river, has rejected criticism from YouTuber Dhruv Rathee regarding a meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. During their meeting, Yadav praised the 21-year-old, and a video of their interaction was posted on the CM's Instagram account. This prompted Rathee to accuse the government of taking credit for Tabahi's work and suggest it was a "photoshoot."

Rathee also questioned Tabahi's statement during the meeting that the government was already conducting cleanliness-related work. Tabahi responded to Rathee, stating that the meeting should not be seen as an attempt by the government to take credit for his efforts. He emphasized the importance of civic responsibility and encouraging more people to participate in cleanliness efforts.

Chief Minister Yadav praised Tabahi's determination and his efforts to clean the Ajnar river, highlighting that meaningful change can start with one individual taking initiative. His work even caught the attention of Boyan Slat, the founder of The Ocean Cleanup in the Netherlands, who offered the young activist a job after seeing a post about his efforts.
