20-year-old Indian who cleaned polluted river gets ‘job offer’ from Dutch founder

A 20-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh named Surendra Singh Choudhary, also known as Bittu Tabahi, has gained attention after his efforts to clean a polluted river went viral on social media. Singh has been cleaning the Ajnar River, which was largely covered in garbage, on his own for months. His work recently caught the eye of Boyan Slat, the Dutch inventor and founder of The Ocean Cleanup, who offered him a job via a simple response on X.

Slat, who founded the Netherlands-based organization dedicated to tackling plastic pollution, saw Singh's cleaning efforts and responded with "Come work for us." This brief but impactful message quickly went viral, leading to various reactions online. Some users argued that Singh should accept the opportunity and move to the Netherlands, while others questioned the value of such an offer in a country where hard work is often undervalued.

Regardless of the opinions, Singh's dedication to cleaning the Ajnar River has already earned him recognition from notable figures, including industrialist Anand Mahindra, who praised his efforts in March.
