Marina Ibrahim appointed special officer for Johor Orang Asli

Marina Ibrahim, a former DAP assemblyman, has been appointed as a special officer for the Orang Asli community in Johor, according to the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation. The appointment, made by Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi, was announced at the National Orang Asli Sports Carnival in Iskandar Puteri. Marina will serve as the Sultan's special representative, tasked with understanding the needs of the Orang Asli community.

Israk Abdullah, the state executive councillor for agriculture, agro-based industry, and rural development, will also assist in caring for the Orang Asli community's welfare. Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed confidence in Marina's ability to effectively engage with the community by visiting Orang Asli villages to gain firsthand knowledge of their issues and challenges.

This approach, Zahid emphasized, is crucial to identifying and addressing the community's problems. Marina, who served a single term in Skudai before announcing her decision not to defend her seat before the Johor state election, will return to community work, continuing the social work she had been passionate about prior to her political career.
