Marina Ibrahim dilantik pegawai khas Orang Asli Johor

Former Johor State Assemblyman Marina Ibrahim has announced her resignation from politics before the PRN Johor election and is returning to community work. (Picture from Facebook) The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Johor exco, Ibrahim, has been appointed a special officer for Orang Asli under the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation. Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the appointment at the National Orang Asli Sports Carnival in Educity, Iskandar Puteri yesterday.

He said that Marina will serve as a special representative to Sultan Johor, Sultan Ibrahim, to interact and understand the needs of Orang Asli in the state. Exco for Agriculture, Agro-Based Industries and Greater Johor Development, Israk Abdullah, will also help in caring for the welfare of the Orang Asli community. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi is confident that Marina can play an effective role by visiting Orang Asli villages to understand the issues and challenges faced by the community.

The Minister of State for Rural and Regional Development said that such an approach is crucial to ensure that Orang Asli issues are recognized and given the proper attention. Ibrahim, who was Skudai State Assemblyman for a term, announced her decision not to retain the seat and resign from politics before PRN Johor. She said that she chose to work directly with the needy, continuing the community work she cherished since before joining politics.

DAP Johor chairman Teo Nie Ching later revealed that the party plans to move Marina to contest the Tiram seat. Ibrahim won Skudai constituency in PRN Johor 2022, defeating Lim Soon Hai from Barisan Nasional and Khoo Keng Ek from Perikatan Nasional.
