Israel army says striking southern Lebanon, urges evacuation

Jerusalem, September 6 — The Israeli military announced it was conducting strikes in southern Lebanon following an incident where Hezbollah launched drones at its soldiers, urging the town of Arab Salim's residents to evacuate. The military statement indicated that no Israeli soldiers were injured during the incident. The Israeli military emphasized that this was a "blatant violation" by Hezbollah and retaliated with strikes in southern Lebanon.

A warning was issued to the residents of Arab Salim, stating, "You are situated near a facility belonging to the terrorist organization Hezbollah, against which the IDF will be operating." This situation has roots in the Middle East conflict that erupted in March after Hezbollah, backed by Iran, attacked Israel. In response, Israel launched airstrikes and a ground invasion, though Lebanon claims these operations have resulted in over 4,300 casualties.

Since June, a US-Iran memorandum of understanding and a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon have led to a reduction in violence. Israeli forces are currently operating within a self-declared "security zone" approximately ten kilometers deep inside Lebanon along the border. Lebanon reported that Israeli strikes resulted in four deaths in the south and east of their country.
