Israel launches fresh strikes on southern Lebanon

Israeli forces have resumed strikes in southern Lebanon following a series of drone attacks by Hezbollah, the military announced. Hezbollah fired two drones towards IDF soldiers operating in the Security Zone in southern Lebanon, but there were no reports of Israeli casualties, according to the military. The Israeli military described the drone attacks as a "blatant violation" by Hezbollah and urged residents of the town of Arab Salim to evacuate.

The IDF warned that it would target any location linked to the terrorist organization, posting a notice in Arabic on Telegram. Lebanon's involvement in the Middle East conflict began in March after Hezbollah attacked Israel, leading to airstrikes and a ground invasion that Lebanon claims have resulted in over 4,300 casualties. Tensions have eased since a June US-Iran memorandum of understanding and a subsequent framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon in later August.

Israeli forces are operating within a self-declared security zone, approximately 10km deep inside Lebanon along the border. Authorities in Lebanon reported that Israeli strikes killed four individuals in southern and eastern parts of the country the previous day.
