Amazon cargo plane overshoots runway at Miami airport - striking multiple vehicles

An Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon after it overshot the runway during a landing from Puerto Rico. Videos posted online depict heavy plumes of smoke billowing from the aircraft, which displayed the Amazon arrow logo on its tail. Preliminary reports indicate possible injuries or fatalities, though official confirmation is pending.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident, stating that the Boeing 767-300 cargo plane, operated for Amazon Prime Air, departed from San Juan's Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and overran the runway upon landing at Miami International Airport around 2 pm local time on September 6. The plane came to a stop at the north-west end of the airport, causing the FAA to initiate a ground stop that has halted all flights in and out of the busy South Florida hub.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has responded to the scene, and a ground stop remains in effect. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned that the area could experience significant delays and potential cancellations for travelers. Authorities from Amazon and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been contacted for further comment on the tragic event.
