Amazon cargo plane overshoots Miami runway, hits vehicles, catches fire

Miami's Miami-Dade Fire Department reported an Amazon cargo plane, designated as Prime Air Flight 7598, overshot its intended runway during landing on Sunday. The Boeing 767, en route from Puerto Rico, struck several vehicles and subsequently erupted into flames, spewing thick smoke as fire crews rushed to the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration, along with Miami International Airport, confirmed the incident, though no immediate reports of casualties had been issued.

Both agencies indicated over 60 firefighting units were dispatched to the location. The Miami-Dade Fire Department confirmed the plane had indeed overran the runway and collided with multiple vehicles, adding that they were actively working to douse the fire and evaluate any injured individuals. Amazon, the company operating the plane, issued a statement confirming the aircraft had experienced an incident during landing, but did not provide details on injuries or fatalities.

The airport shut down all its runways and taxiways as a precaution following the accident. Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel stated that the company was coordinating closely with local authorities to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the event.
