As tensions between the United States and Iran continue to rise, both nations are engaging in a cycle of aggression involving naval vessels and submarines. The United States Navy retaliated against Iran's attack on their warship, sinking three Iranian submarines in what is being seen as a dangerous escalation. In retaliation, the U.S. Navy targeted three Iranian oil tankers near the Harigh ship near Qom and Stork 1 near the Stark region, disabling them and ordering their crews to evacuate, while also disabling the Kalayho near Kailo.

The U.S. has warned that if Iran continues to attack their vessels, they will face greater economic consequences, potentially escalating the conflict further. This escalating cycle of violence, which has intensified since the U.S. struck an Iranian missile launch facility in Hormuz last month, is putting additional pressure on South Korea's government as they consider the deployment of military assets in the region.

While the U.S. administration hopes to avoid a full-scale conflict ahead of upcoming elections, recent actions demonstrate that the situation is becoming increasingly volatile and divergent from the administration's claims of a "limited" military confrontation.
