Choose PM candidate from Terengganu, says PAS delegate

A PAS delegate at the party's general assembly has suggested that Terengganu should be the source for the party's candidate for Prime Minister, citing the state's financial management and governance achievements. KOTA BHARU: Speaking at the assembly today, Wan Mat Sulaiman, a Terengganu PAS delegate, argued that the party's successes in governing Terengganu since 2018 demonstrated its capability to run the nation.

Terengganu was ranked by IDEAS as the best state in Malaysia for budget management transparency, and the state received a record RM7.58 billion in investments in 2025. This success, despite numerous financial challenges due to denied petroleum royalties, highlights Terengnanu's ability to manage finances effectively. Wan Mat also noted that Terengganu was recognized as Malaysia's happiest state in 2024, reflecting the government's success in creating a progressive and prosperous environment.

Highlighting the party's experience in governing multiple states, Wan Mat emphasized that PAS's leadership in Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, and Perlis would provide voters with a basis to evaluate the party's potential national governance. In February, PAS's youth wing had proposed Samsuri as a prime ministerial candidate, describing him as a calm, results-focused leader.
