Macao Economic, Trade and Tourism Investment Promotion Seminar Held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Opening a New Chapter of Bilateral Cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – On September 3, the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government organized a reception and the Macao Economic, Trade, and Tourism Investment Promotion Seminar in Kuala Lumpur. The event aimed to bolster cooperation between the two regions across various sectors, including tourism, MICE, high-tech and AI services, traditional Chinese medicine, and Muslim-friendly initiatives.

Over 120 business matchmaking sessions took place, resulting in more than 60 signed agreements. The Chief Executive of Macao, Sam Hou Fai, emphasized that the visit sought to renew traditional friendship, foster consensus, and elevate pragmatic cooperation between Macao and Malaysia. Both sides are key nodes on the Maritime Silk Road, sharing cultural ties and close exchanges.

Malaysia serves as an important economic partner and tourist source market for Macao, offering vast potential for collaboration in cultural exchange, education, and Muslim-friendly tourism. The seminar featured presentations and business matching sessions, showcasing Macao's "Tourism+" initiatives, particularly "Tourism + Healthcare."

Macao's upcoming private healthcare law introduces a "day hospital" category, a one-stop licensing system, and regulations for telemedicine and advanced therapies, creating a clear investment environment. The seminar brought together over 350 guests, including Malaysian and Chinese officials, Macao SAR government representatives, and business delegates.
