Anwar vows to strengthen MITRA and expand Indian community support

KUALA LUMPUR, September 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim pledged to strengthen the Indian community's support and expand the Madani government's national development efforts, stating that the community will not be left behind. Anwar assured that the government would continue to enhance the community's standard of living by expanding access to financing for entrepreneurs, reinforcing the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (Mitra), improving Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and generating more opportunities for youth development through mentor-mentee programmes.

He highlighted numerous initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, microfinancing, welfare, and cash assistance to alleviate family burdens and elevate living standards.

During his Facebook post, Anwar engaged with Indian community leaders to assess progress in executing the Madani government's agenda, while attentively listening to their unaddressed concerns. He emphasized the urgency of resolving remaining gaps, particularly in poverty, citizenship, and access to assistance. The prime minister encouraged relevant ministries and agencies to enhance collaboration and optimize service delivery, ensuring that every allocation and policy reaches its intended recipients and leads to tangible improvements in people's lives.
