Anwar vows to strengthen MITRA and expand Indian community support

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim affirmed that the Indian community will not be marginalized in the national development plan. The Malaysian government remains committed to enhancing the community's quality of life, said Anwar in a Facebook post. His initiatives encompass expanding access to funding for entrepreneurs, fortifying the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (Mitra), bolstering entrepreneurship and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as well as generating more prospects for youth development via mentor-mentee programs.

"Numerous initiatives have been launched in education, entrepreneurship, microfinancing, welfare, and cash assistance to alleviate family burdens and elevate their living standards," he stated. Anwar is currently engaging with Indian community leaders to evaluate the progress of the Madani government's plans while addressing unresolved issues and concerns.

He emphasized that remaining gaps, such as poverty, citizenship, and access to support, must be tackled swiftly and efficiently. The prime minister also called upon relevant ministries and agencies to enhance coordination and optimize service delivery, ensuring that every allocation and policy reaches its intended beneficiaries and yields practical benefits for people's lives.
