UAE travel advisory: Flights delayed and cancelled at Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports

Flights throughout the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are experiencing delays and cancellations as a result of ongoing regional tensions, though the number of affected services has decreased slightly compared to the previous day. Multiple flights at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and Dubai International Airport are facing delays, with a few cancellations reported.

The disruption stems from a recent escalation in fighting between the US and Iran, with the US conducting strikes on targets in Iran on Tuesday night. Iran responded by launching missile and drone attacks on US-linked sites in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, and Kuwait. Jordan reported 13 Iranian missiles entering its airspace, while Bahrain and Kuwait intercepted Iranian drones.

Despite airports still operating, heightened security concerns have led to delays and cancellations, and airlines caution that schedules may change abruptly. At Zayed International Airport, several arrival flights have been delayed, including Air Arabia Abu Dhabi services from Calicut, Chennai, Trivandrum, Ahmedabad, Sialkot, and Kathmandu, as well as Etihad services from Barcelona, Delhi, Islamabad, Moscow, and several other cities.

IndiGo flight 6E1439 from Tiruchirappalli is also delayed. Departures from Zayed International Airport have been less affected, with only a few SpiceJet services running behind schedule. At Dubai International Airport, several arrival flights are delayed, including Flydubai services from Almaty, Bishkek, Moscow, Jeddah, Astana, Minsk, Addis Ababa, Damascus, Abha, Baghdad, and Entebbe (cancelled).

Emirates services with later arrival times are also delayed, including flights to Manchester, London Gatwick, Lisbon, Edinburgh, Dublin, London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Rome, Bologna, and Lyon, as well as North American routes from Washington, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Houston, San Francisco, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Colombo, Bangkok, Bengaluru, Male, Cairo, and Jakarta.

Other airlines such as Kenya Airways, Singapore Airlines, Air India Express, and SpiceJet are also experiencing delays. Departures from Dubai International Airport have faced fewer disruptions, with only a few SpiceJet services running late. In Kuwait, Kuwait Airways flights from Kochi and Delhi, as well as Pegasus Airlines from Istanbul, are delayed.

Queen Alia International Airport in Amman has also seen delays and cancellations, with Royal Jordanian flights to Mosul, Damascus, and Batumi cancelled, and Turkish Airlines flight TK816 from Istanbul delayed.
