Saudi Arabia’s security remains a red line for Egypt: Sisi

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi exchanged phone conversations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman today, according to an official statement by the Spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Mohamed al-Shennawy. Sisi conveyed his warmest regards to the Saudi leader ahead of the forthcoming Saudi National Day. The Egyptian President expressed his desire for continued stability, prosperity, and progress for Saudi Arabia under the guidance of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman responded by reaffirming the enduring, historic ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The two leaders discussed the entire range of bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation across various sectors to achieve mutual benefits, foster sustainable development, and bolster regional security.

President Sisi highlighted the shared destiny of Egypt and Saudi Arabia, stressing that ensuring Saudi Arabia's security and that of the broader Arab region is a crucial aspect of Egyptian national security. He stressed that joint efforts are essential to address the current regional challenges. In return, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman praised the burgeoning relationship between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and the close coordination aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.

He stressed the necessity to intensify high-level political dialogue and reciprocal visits across various fields. The call also addressed pressing regional and global concerns. Both leaders stressed the urgent need to de-escalate ongoing regional tensions to maintain peace, safeguard global energy security, supply chains, and international trade routes.
