'We'll meet again': Wife dies hours after husband's burial

In Kuala Lumpur, the wife of 84-year-old Alias Panjang Aris passed away less than 24 hours after his burial. On August 27, Roezah Abdul Hamid whispered her final words to her husband before he was laid to rest. Just hours later, Roezah succumbed to her last breath, making their deaths occur within a span of less than a day. Her grandson, Muhammad Haziq Azmin, 24, revealed that Alias died at 7:56 pm on August 26 after doctors informed the family of his deteriorating condition.

The family had anticipated Alias' passing and proceeded with his burial around 11 am the following day. On that morning, Roezah managed to watch as her late husband was placed in the grave and buried, sprinkling water over his grave and speaking with relatives afterward. However, about 3:50 pm, tragedy struck again when Roezah, who desired to take a bath, suddenly became too weak to get up.

Haziq stated that his aunt noticed Roezah appeared different from her usual self shortly after, and she soon complained of difficulty breathing. Roezah passed away not long after, leaving the entire family in shock. Haziq revealed that Roezah had no known illness and had even attended to various matters related to her husband's funeral earlier in the day.

The circumstances surrounding Roezah's death were particularly difficult for Haziq to accept, as both her grandparents had raised him from a young age while his parents were at work. The date of Alias' death on August 26 also evoked memories of his late father, who died on the same date in 2017.
