NCM forecasts thunderstorms across Saudi Arabia through Wednesday

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) predicts a series of thunderstorms across various regions of Saudi Arabia from Saturday to Wednesday, September 5 to 9. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated on Monday and Tuesday in several areas, with light to moderate rain spreading to other parts later in the week. Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha are set to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly on Monday and Tuesday, with the most intense downpours expected in these regions.

In Jazan, areas such as Al-Raith, Haroub, Al-Dayer, and others will witness heavy rainfall, intensifying on Monday and Tuesday. The same pattern is projected for Farasan and Jazan governorates. In Asir, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Ahad Rafidah, and numerous other governorates will see heavy rainfall, with the heaviest expected on Monday and Tuesday. Lighter showers, however, will affect areas like Bisha, Al-Amwah, Tarib, and Al-Barak.

Asir's Abha, Khamis Mushait, and other governorates are forecasted to experience heavy rainfall from Monday to Wednesday. Light to moderate rain is expected in Bisha, Al-Amwah, Tarib, and Al-Barak. In the Makkah region, Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat will face heavy rainfall from Monday to Wednesday, while Turabah, Al-Muwayh, Al-Khurmah, and Raniyah will encounter lighter downpours during the same period.

The Riyadh region, including Wadi Al-Dawasir and Al-Sulayyil, as well as Najran, Badr Al-Janoub, Habuna, Thar, Yadma, Khubash, and Sharurah, will see light to moderate rain from Monday to Wednesday. Al-Udayd and the southern part of Al-Ahsa in the Eastern Province are also expected to receive rainfall on Monday and Tuesday.

Thunderstorms may bring flash floods, hail, high waves along the coast, and strong winds exceeding 60 km/h. The NCM warns of potential heavy rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters per hour and advises the public to stay updated through official channels, including the Anwaa early-warning application, and to adhere to safety instructions issued by relevant authorities.
