Prohibition of all forms of punishment towards students in public schools: Education Ministry

The Education Ministry has emphasized the importance of upholding the code of ethics for public school employees, which explicitly prohibits any form of punishment towards students. In a circular issued by the School and Student Affairs Department, the Ministry outlined that officials must adhere to ethical values and professional practices in their interactions with students, with the primary goal of maintaining their well-being and dignity.

The Ministry reiterated its stance against any form of disciplinary action, including physical, verbal, and mental punishments, as well as all forms of abuse that can adversely affect students and their learning environment. It stressed the necessity of addressing behavioral issues through constructive educational methods, in line with approved policies, regulations, and circulars.

The School and Student Affairs Department urged all employees in public schools to follow these guidelines, noting that individuals found culpable of abuse would be subject to disciplinary measures as per established policies and regulations. Furthermore, the Department acknowledged the efforts made to foster an educational atmosphere that supports students and ensures their safety and well-being.
