Education Ministry prohibits all forms of punishment against students

Doha, Qatar - The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) in Qatar has issued a directive prohibiting any form of punishment against students in public schools. In a circular released by the School and Student Affairs Department, the Ministry emphasized adherence to the code of ethics for public school employees. This code stresses the importance of respecting students' values, professional and educational practices while maintaining their physical and mental health.

MoEHE's circular prohibits physical, verbal, and mental punishments as well as all other abusive practices that negatively impact students and their educational environment. The Ministry stressed the importance of handling behavioral violations with appropriate educational methods based on approved policies, regulations, and circulars.

The School and Student Affairs Department called on employees working in public schools to follow these instructions, noting that abusers will be held accountable under the policies and regulations. Despite the prohibition of punishment, the Department praised efforts made to support the educational process and create a safe, supportive environment for students.
