Zack Polanski, leader of the UK Green Party, has declared his intention to run for the MP seat of Holborn and St Pancras following Sir Keir Starmer's resignation. Polanski stated that the constituency represents the unique qualities that make London so special and expressed his excitement at the prospect of representing the area in Parliament.

To become the official Green candidate for the seat, Polanski must be selected by local party members. His party currently has five MPs, but they have never won a parliamentary seat in the capital. Holborn and St Pancras, a Labour seat since the 1980s, first under Frank Dobson and then Starmer, presents a challenge for the Green Party.

Polanski acknowledged the difficulties faced by the Green Party under a Labour government, saying, "It's a clear fight between Labour and the Green Party. We know that people are struggling – that the things we used to afford are increasingly out of reach – and this is a chance to send a very clear message that we won't sit by as we get poorer and extreme wealth is concentrated at the very top."

He assured voters that he would be dedicated to standing up for them and forcing the current Labour government to make life more affordable for those living in the area.

Polanski is the first Jewish leader of the Green Party. He is known for his vocal criticism of Israel and identifies as anti-Zionist, often participating in pro-Palestinian events.
