Police arrest influencer Santosh Pandit over remarks against minister Chandrakant Patil

The Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Owusu-Bempah, has issued a stern warning to students at Okuapem Senior High School and Mount Sinai Senior High School. Speaking on September 3, he emphasized the need for students to take personal responsibility for maintaining discipline, as school authorities are unable to manage the large student population on their own.

DCOP Owusu-Bempah cautioned students that participating in group violence or deliberately flouting the law would not protect them from being identified and prosecuted, even if they were part of a larger group. He stressed that while the police may not be able to arrest every student, they would identify those who organized or led acts of violence.

DCOP Owusu-Bempah urged students to report any plans to cause trouble to their headmasters instead of allowing the situation to escalate. Students who are identified as ringleaders will face prosecution, and the police will not overlook deliberate violations of the law. He cautioned students against refusing to comply when instructed to leave the school and against associating with miscreants or hoodlums who may encourage violence.

DCOP Owusu-Bempah expressed particular concern about reports of students throwing stones at police officers during incidents at the schools, emphasizing that such actions constitute criminal offenses. He warned that officers would take steps to defend themselves if attacked. The commander also urged students to channel their rivalry into positive competition, such as academic performance, sporting achievements, and contributions to society, rather than engaging in violence.

He warned that students should not take pride in being associated with violence or stone-throwing and cautioned against allowing former students or outside individuals to influence them into engaging in confrontations. DCOP Owusu-Bempah stressed that criminal offenses come with punishments and that anyone who violates the law should expect to face the consequences.
