MOCI co-organizes workshop on pre-implementation of economic concentration transactions

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) co-organized a workshop on the pre-implementation of economic concentration transactions, held virtually in collaboration with the General Authority for Competition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This workshop was part of the implementation of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties, aiming to enhance cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge in the field of competition law.

The Competition Protection Department at MOCI, leading the workshop, addressed several topics to enhance understanding of the risks associated with the pre-implementation of economic concentration transactions. The workshop also clarified the differences between legitimate preparatory procedures and prohibited pre-implementation, contributing to improved compliance with competition rules during the pre-approval phase.

During the event, a presentation was made on the legal framework governing economic concentration transactions in Qatar. Additionally, discussions took place on relevant international and Gulf issues and experiences. This workshop is part of MOCI's efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange technical expertise with specialized bodies, ultimately spreading knowledge and improving the efficiency of work in the field of competition law.
