MOCI workshop focuses pre-implementation of economic concentration transactions

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) in Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the General Authority for Competition, organized a virtual workshop focused on the pre-implementation of economic concentration transactions. This workshop is part of the broader efforts to comply with the memorandum of understanding signed between the two entities, aimed at fostering cooperation and sharing knowledge in competition law.

The Competition Protection Department at MoCI spearheaded the event, which tackled various aspects to improve comprehension of the risks associated with pre-implementation of such transactions. By delineating the line between permissible preparatory measures and prohibited pre-implementation actions, the workshop sought to bolster adherence to competition regulations during the pre-approval stage.

Participants engaged with a presentation outlining the legal framework governing economic concentration transactions within Saudi Arabia, alongside discussions on pertinent international and regional issues and experiences. This initiative underscores MoCI's commitment to strengthening ties with specialized bodies through technical expertise exchange, thereby elevating the overall effectiveness and knowledge dissemination within the realm of competition law.
