Trade in your old vacuum when Shark’s Karang Guni truck comes to your neighbourhood this Sep. 2026

In September 2026, Singaporeans will experience a nostalgic return to the days of the karang guni man, as Shark revives the concept with a vacuum trade-in campaign. The karang guni man, known for his distinctive call and honk, would roam neighborhoods collecting pre-loved goods in exchange for a small payment.

Shark's latest cordless vacuum range, including models like the PowerClean360, BOOST+, and BOOST, boasts advanced features such as Reverse Clean Technology, Anti-Hair Wrap Technology, smart sensors, and an Auto-Empty System. These innovations aim to make cleaning easier and more efficient.

From September 4 to 6 and September 11 to 13, Shark will bring its Karang Guni trucks to 24 stops across six neighborhoods, offering Singaporeans the chance to trade in their old vacuums for a discount on a new model. The trade-in offers are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, with one vacuum purchase allowed per participant. Notably, the trucks will accept vacuums of any brand or condition, regardless of whether they are working or not.

While the trade-in process requires payment via credit card, the sharks are also offering a chance to enjoy a free coconut water and a nostalgic experience while learning about the latest vacuum technologies. The campaign pays homage to the original karang guni man, who played a significant role in the neighborhood clean-up culture in Singapore.
