Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe is a MacBook Neo competitor starting at $699

Lenovo has entered the competition with Apple's MacBook Neo by unveiling the IdeaPad Vibe, a colorful laptop aimed at the company's most affordable model. The IdeaPad Vibe can be customized with either a 14-inch or 15-inch OLED display and boasts a sleek thickness of 14.9mm, weighing just 2.87lbs. While it is thicker and larger than the MacBook Neo, its starting weight is not too far off.

Lenovo will offer both plastic and metal variations of the laptop, with seven color options powered by a partnership with Pantone. The color palette includes Dreamy Violet, Spicy Gold, Zen Green, Chill Blue, Radiant Coral, Moody Blue, and Lowkey Grey. In addition to its stylish appearance, the IdeaPad Vibe comes equipped with a variety of ports, including USB-A, HDMI, two USB-C, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader.

The laptop also features a 5MP webcam, an optional keyboard backlight, and an optional touchscreen on the 15-inch model. Lenovo offers two CPU options - the AMD Ryzen AI 400 chip and the Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip - with configurations including up to 32GB of RAM (upgradable) and up to 1TB of storage (dual slot, upgradable). The Snapdragon version supports up to 24GB of RAM, although the RAM is not upgradable.

Users can expect an Intel version of the IdeaPad Vibe in the future. The laptop will launch in two waves, with AMD models hitting shelves in October, followed by Snapdragon models in November. Both versions will start at $699.99, which is in line with the MacBook Neo's price after Apple's RAM price increase. Lenovo is also introducing the IdeaCentre AIO I, an all-in-one desktop computer with a 24-inch or 27-inch display and a starting price of $939, both set to launch in November.
