Zverev wins wild five-setter, Rybakina and Gauff ease through at US Open

Meanwhile, Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff advanced through their matches with relative ease. Rybakina, aiming for a third Grand Slam title and world number one ranking, defeated Thea Frodin 6-3, 6-2. Gauff showcased her improved serve, edging past Zeynep Sonmez 6-3, 6-4. Thea Frodin and Zeynep Sonmez, both teens, clashed in a tightly contested match where the latter fought back to level before Gauff seized control.

In other rounds, Flavio Cobolli staged an improbable comeback to beat Francisco Comesana 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, marking his first career comeback in a Grand Slam. At the same venue, Madison Keys and Taylor Fritz also won their matches on Arthur Ashe Stadium, with Keys defeating Alina Korneeva 7-5, 6-4 and Fritz sweeping Darwin Blanch 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
