US, Iran exchange attacks as lull in war appears over

Washington and Tehran found themselves back in a state of military confrontation on Wednesday following the most significant exchange of fire in recent weeks, according to reports. The United States warned of more severe strikes, while Iran condemned an attack that reportedly claimed the lives of five people and injured dozens of civilians, many of whom were attending a wedding.

The U.S. Central Command stated that it had targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air defenses, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities, and communication sites on Tuesday. Iranian media reported hits on multiple targets near the Strait of Hormuz, where Tehran has threatened tankers attempting to navigate without authorization.

Iran claimed it struck U.S. assets in Jordan and Iraq, although U.S. officials stated there were no reported casualties, based on preliminary assessments. Jordan's armed forces reported countering 13 ballistic missiles that entered the country's air space.
