Punjab Intensifies Crackdown On Unlicensed Driving

In Punjab, authorities are intensifying their efforts to curb unlicensed driving, particularly among motorcycle riders and car owners. The law mandates that individuals operate vehicles only if they possess a valid license. Police are taking legal action against those who flout this rule. The government has streamlined the license application process, with the cost for a year-long car license set at Rs1,980, comprising a Rs150 test fee, a Rs1,350 fee after passing the test, and Rs480 for courier charges.

Similarly, a one-year motorcycle license costs Rs980, covering a Rs50 test fee, a Rs450 fee post-exam, and Rs480 for courier charges. DIG Traffic Punjab, Muhammad Waqas Nazeer, has instructed law enforcement to meticulously verify the licenses of commercial vehicle drivers. He emphasized that these vehicles will not be permitted on Punjab's roads without valid licenses.

During the current month, over 60,000 individuals were assisted in obtaining commercial licenses, along with more than 3,400 regular commercial licenses. DIG Nazeer cautioned that ongoing strict action will be taken against drivers of commercial vehicles, including both goods and passenger vehicles, who operate without proper licenses.
