Tiger Woods pleads guilty to lesser charge in DUI rollover case

Tiger Woods, a celebrated 15-time major champion, has agreed to plead guilty to charges of careless and reckless driving following a rollover car accident in Florida in March. This plea will result in the suspension of his driver's license for a period of five years. The incident occurred when Woods' Land Rover flipped over on a two-lane road near his Jupiter Island residence.

Initially, Woods had pleaded not guilty to the charges but later travelled abroad to undergo treatment for his well-being. In a social media post in April, Woods expressed his understanding of the gravity of the situation, stating that he was stepping away temporarily to focus on his recovery and improve his health. He emphasized his commitment to returning in a healthier, stronger, and more focused state both personally and professionally, requesting privacy during this time.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, authorities claim Woods admitted to looking down at his phone and not realizing the truck ahead had slowed down. The affidavit also states that Woods had two hydrocodone pills in his possession during the arrest and was observed by officers to be lethargic, slow, sweating profusely, with bloodshot eyes and extremely dilated pupils.

When questioned during the DUI investigation about taking any prescription medication, Woods admitted to taking "a few" while confirming he had consumed them earlier in the morning.
