Punjab Reveals Details of CM Electric Bike Scheme

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif of Punjab has announced the provision of over 125,000 electric bikes to students throughout the province via the CM Electric Bike Scheme. The scheme's first major directive is that no down payment is to be collected from students, nor any charges other than a monthly installment. The Punjab government will bear the burden of interest and insurance costs associated with the bikes. Officials have agreed to a proposed monthly installment of approximately Rs. 3,000.

Maryam Sharif has also ordered the e-bike portal to launch this week, with the aim of ensuring that eligible students receive their bikes within a six-week period. The program extends beyond students to include government employees, departments, and delivery workers. Students who are recipients of the bikes will be given helmets and safety rods at no cost.

The electric bikes themselves will be equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries. Furthermore, eligible students will receive complimentary two-day driving training. The announcement of the scheme was first reported on ProPakistani.
