A masked figure got into a Polish drone-parts plant—Poland now suspects a foreign spy service set the fire

A masked intruder gained access to a Polish drone-parts manufacturing facility operated by WB Electronics, setting a fire that destroyed storage rooms containing vital components for both Polish and Ukrainian forces. Polish authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, suspecting a potential foreign intelligence service as the culprit behind the arson.

The fire occurred shortly after midnight on August 31st at the Skarżysko-Kamienna plant, spreading from the assembly hall to storage rooms in a matter of hours. Despite the extensive damage, no injuries were reported. Security cameras captured footage of the masked individual climbing the fence to gain entry. Poland's National Prosecutor's Office has launched a dual investigation – one for foreign intelligence activity against the country and another for a terrorist offense.

The interior ministry's deputy head, Czesław Mroczek, pointed to the increasing targeting of defense factories and supply lines as evidence suggesting a possible Russian involvement, noting that European states have faced sabotage for years while supporting Ukraine. The WB Electronics plant primarily produces drone components for unmanned systems utilized by both Polish and Ukrainian forces, with Ukraine receiving FlyEye drones back in 2022 and WB Group launching drone production within Ukraine in 2025.

Authorities are still investigating the methods used to gain entry and identifying the individual or group responsible for the attack.
