Police bust one-chance robbery, kidnapping syndicate in Rivers, arrest 14 suspects

The Rivers State Police Command announced the dismantling of a one-chance robbery and kidnapping syndicate that had been terrorizing residents of Port Harcourt and its surrounding areas. Fourteen suspects, including two women, were arrested in connection with the criminal network. State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, made the announcement while presenting the arrested individuals before journalists at the command's headquarters in Port Harcourt.

The suspects, ranging from ages 18 to 30, were linked to the syndicate through various complaints from the public. The initial arrest of five suspects, led by Nelson Idakiniselegha 'M', aka Mandela, 30 years, followed by Michael Matthew 'M', aka Pilot, 29 years, and Kelly Edison 'M', aka BTC, 30 years. Daniel Obodo 'M', aka Mazi, 18 years, and Chisom Unegbu 'M', aka Favour, 28 years, were also apprehended.

The suspects were operating in various areas of Port Harcourt, including Niger Street, Garrison, Aba Road, Rumuola, Air Force, Rumuokwurusi, Obiri-Ikwerre, and Choba. The police recovered a Keke mini-bus with registration number RGM 823 XE and 16 mobile phones, suspected to have been stolen from the victims. Their arrest followed a series of complaints and actionable intelligence from the public, which led to intensified operations against the criminal syndicates.
