FTC carries out on-site probe into Coupang on previous day: sources

The South Korean Fair Trade Commission (FTC) conducted an on-site examination of Coupang's headquarters in Seoul the day before, according to industry sources. The probe focused on whether Coupang unfairly hindered the operations of other businesses, sources explained. Last month, the FTC aimed to inspect Coupang's facilities due to claims that the company transferred discount costs to its suppliers.

Coupang refused to participate in the investigation, arguing it had not been given proper notice as required by the Framework Act on Administrative Investigations. An FTC official stated, "We cannot comment on individual cases."
