Jos to Harvard: 7UP Picks Angbazo as 16th Nigerian for Full MBA Scholarship

Seven-Up Bottling Company (SBC) has selected Jochebed Angbazo from Jos, Plateau State, as the 16th recipient of the 7UP Harvard Business School Scholarship (7UP-HBSS). This announcement was made in Lagos by SBC executives, who emphasized that the scholarship program is one of the company's longest-running social investments. Muhammed Ahmad, Chief Finance Officer of SBC, expressed pride in the initiative's impact on recipients and Nigeria, despite the current business challenges.

The scholarship, established 16 years ago by SBC Chairman Faysal El-Khalil, emphasizes candidates' commitment to making a meaningful impact in Nigeria, alongside their professional achievements and academic potential. SBC Head of People and Culture, Olayinka Olufade, revealed the rigorous selection process, which seeks individuals passionate about Nigeria and eager to apply their learnings upon returning.

The first recipient, Misan Rewane, founded West Africa Vocational Education (WAVE) to enhance employability skills for young people in the region. Angbazo, with eight years of experience in real estate, financial services, digital media, and hospitality, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study at Harvard Business School, urging Nigerian parents to invest in girls' education.

Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs, Nkemdirim Agboti, highlighted SBC's commitment to communities and the opportunities created by the company, stating that the 7UP-HBSS is a tangible expression of this belief. Since 2010, the scholarship has awarded 16 full MBA scholarships to outstanding Nigerian professionals, fostering a community of leaders in various fields.
