Another suspect nabbed in Teluk Intan robbery-murder case

IPOH police have apprehended an additional suspect in the Teluk Intan robbery-murder case that occurred in April, according to Hilir Perak police chief Chua Kok Lian. The 26-year-old suspect was apprehended on August 26 in Klang, Selangor, as part of Operation Kesan/Wanted. Chua revealed that the arrest was the result of persistent efforts to identify and apprehend individuals linked to the case, which culminated in the death of a 69-year-old victim.

The suspect's four accomplices had already been arrested and charged on May 7 under Section 302 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 34. Following further investigations, the case was forwarded to the deputy public prosecutor, who has issued instructions for the suspect to be charged under the same statute. The suspect, who is presently in custody, is scheduled to appear before the Teluk Intan magistrates court on September 2 to face the charge.

Chua emphasized that the public is encouraged to provide any information regarding criminal activities to assist in maintaining public safety and order. The incident took place on April 17 when an elderly man was fatally wounded during a gang robbery at a residence in Pekan Baru, Teluk Intan. The victim suffered severe injuries to his right hand and left palm and was pronounced dead at the scene.
