Manhunt leads to fifth arrest in Teluk Intan gang robbery that killed 69-year-old

On April 17, a 69-year-old man was fatally injured in Teluk Intan during a gang robbery involving a machete assault. Police have now arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the crime. Chief Inspector Chua Kok Lian of Hilir Perak police revealed that the 26-year-old suspect was apprehended on August 26 in Klang, Selangor, as part of the ongoing Operations Kesan/Wanted.

This arrest marks the culmination of persistent efforts to apprehend those believed responsible for the incident, which claimed the life of the 69-year-old victim. The suspect's four accomplices had already been apprehended and charged on May 7, 2026, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 34. Following further investigation, the case was forwarded to the Deputy Public Prosecutor, resulting in the suspect's additional charges under the same law.

The suspect, who is presently in custody, is scheduled to appear before the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court on September 2 to address the charges. Police have emphasized the importance of public assistance in maintaining safety and order, particularly in the Hilir Perak district. The victim sustained severe injuries, losing control of both his right hand and left palm before succumbing at the scene.

On May 7, four men were previously charged in Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court with the murder of the elderly man using a sharp weapon. Authorities urge anyone with pertinent information about criminal activities to come forward and share it with the police to aid in ongoing efforts to ensure public safety.
